Brake by wire

The E55 is being knocked in reviews for its brake by wire feature.
I can see a car reviewer not quite used to it feeling uncomforatle.

I beleive SL had such brakes for a while. I would appreciate your experince.

It does take a while to get used to. It grips differently and also the sensitivity of the pedal is different.

However, the uneasyness goes away after 1000 miles. You adapt your driving style to the SBC

Since just about all comments I have read on this issue are subjective opinions, I'll add one more

1) Brake "performance" (SL55) is better than any other Mercedes I have driven and I have driven just about any model of the last 15 years.
2) The brake pedal feel is now is "simulated" anyway to give the driver a similar experience to the old mechanical brakes and I find that they did a reasonable job doing that, at least compared to other Mercedes'. It more obvious compared to other cars.

But who cares? What matters is that the car brakes better, especially in real life emergency situations, not a test track. Remember how bad ABS felt when braking hard? I am certainly not nostalgic when it comes to brakes...

Just imagine the comments when steering by wire goes into production
