Final Inspection on '04 before end of warranty
Well, we have owned our SL for almost 4 years now. The (expensive and seldom used) extended warranty we purchased is due to run out next week. Aside from a few minor electrical issues, the car has been more reliable than we expected. We have put roughly 25k miles on it and have not really spent any money in repairs. Now, after 4 years, we are bringing it in to fix a few items and give it a last once over. The ABC light went on a few days ago and there was a smell of burning fluid after a freeway run. It turns out a switch controlling the ABC was malfunctioning and needs to be replaced. The burning fluid smell was coming from a small leak in the rear diff. 3 parts, including a frozen hose, need to be replaced and are coming from Germany. Last thing, the outside "window wiping" molding on the rear passenger window is rolling/bunching up when opening or closing the window. To my surprise, everything is being covered under our Mercedes extended warranty! Finally getting some value from an extended warranty. The next repairs are on us. Have a GREAT Holiday Season!
