Help with engine

Does anyone know what the little tank above the abc dipstick is? When i twist the cap off it has a meter that says "min 20 degrees max then min 80 degrees max" I've been having trouble with my abc and i poured the hydraulic fluid in the abc deal and i still have problems but when i twisted the other cap off the fluid was on min. If anyone knows please help. Thanks

Maybe it could be the power steering fluid?

NO! They are different fluids. Check your owners manual for the full spec.

The ABC and PS fluid is the same type, Pentosin.

awesome thanks. I took it to a mercedes mechanic and he told me my front right strut had gone out. I just got it replaced at the dealership 1 and a half years ago. Not sure what to do now. It's a pretty expensive replacement. I doubt mercedes will cover it since I got it not too long ago.

I found out my problem, took it to a local mercedes repair shop. They told me what my problem was they said that my left strut is bad. I told him I had it replaced with mercedes a year and a half ago, so he advised me to take it back to them to check and see what they could do. I set up an appointment they want to charge me for a diagnostics to tell me the same info the other place told me and quoted me 2900 for a new strut. I still have the receipt and everything. He also told me I needed to flush my abc, and when I told him I also had that done and I still had the receipt he didnt mention it anymore. Not sure what to do at this point. I had links installed on the car 2 years ago, they later told me that it could be caused from the links and I told him if it was the links they should have told me that was the problem in the first place a year and a half ago so I could put the original back. I guess this basically means I'm screwed and out more money. I got quoted from the local guys for 1700 to replace the strut. I'm so fed up I think I'm going to sell the car cheap and not worry anymore.

I feel your pain, man. i sold my SL500 on Jan 1. new year resolution, simply my life and get rid of drama in my life i.e. sell my car which caused me twice a month dealership visits for a host of problems.
Life is short, can't have such hassles..

You'll enjoy having this site to learn more about your car and how to keep it going for less money, or , in some cases , relieve yourself of it all together with a new dirrection. (sometimes life is just better without as many headaches) cheers!!

Cheers, I'm pretty bummed about selling it, but during times like these I just have to. I've replaced everything that could possibly cause problems for the sl500 and I still run into issues. I've replaced from the shift lever from plastic to aluminum to even replacing the front brakes to the amg brakes. Just so I dont have to run into these problems.

Thanks Tobby, I am debating if I should go for it. I dont think I can install that myself though. I did add the AMG brakes on myself I hope changing out the struts are just as easy.

Lexus, AMG Soon!
Please keep us posted on your progress. Many of us will inevitably be going through your same dilemma. I have high hopes that the Arnott solution is a good one.

I think it's a good solution. Much cheaper and they offer lifetime warranty.

Just keep the SL, what else you going to buy a Toyota? Nothing drives like it for the price. Ya the strut went out. Buy a Arnott Strut and find a good local indy and he will install it for $350, so your total should be around $850, well worth the price to drive an SL.

Good Luck, let us know how it turns out.

I got the strut installed, it runs great. My steering wheel seems to be turned just a little to the left when the car goes straight though, but doesn't seem to affect the ride.

I love the SL but I am just afraid that I will run into more problems. Seems like I've replaced everything I that needs to be replaced then something else comes up.
