2005 SL600 OETuning ECU
To Tune or Not to Tune!

OETuning is in town and I can get my 05 SL600 tuned tomorrow and instantly gain 100hp and 100 lb/ft of torque. Sounds like easy power for around $1,500!

Down side, probably burn up the turbos quicker and could have problems with extended warranty.

What would you guys do?

I waited about 3 years before I did my Renntech tune. Wish I had done it sooner. It is a different car. In fact I after I drove a stock SL65, I didn't think it had anything on my tuned SL600, though I am sure the SL65 owners out there will disagree.

3+ years later, no warranty problems, no turbo problems, no problems to speak of associated with the tune.

Spend the money and do both the TCU and ECU. I only did the ECU and last week I did the TCU. Big difference i should have don both at the same time.

RE: Tune

Tune it, you will be amazed at the improvements with the V12.

Post up your feedback after you are able to stop driving the car.

The 600tt cars respond very well to ECU work. Our 600 clients are some of our happiest. It really does transform the car.

In order to get the most, you really should do the ECU and TCU.

Agree with the above. You can tune the ecu all you want in these V12TTs, but the TCU is just gonna dump some of the power due to it's torque limiters. Get them done together and go break my 1/4 mile record.

I just love saying that.

The deed is done and it is all true. The car is transformed.

At 2000 rpm, there is an increase of 200 ft/lbs of torque!

On the Dyno, max rwhp was almost 500 and max torque almost 600.

The throttle response is SO much quicker now.

Regarding TCU, Jeremy said that he has worked on this, but did not see any actual results although he said that some people thought their cars were faster because the shifts really clunked in.

Anyway, the car remains completely tractable around town, but put your foot into it and the beast is trully unleashed.

BTW - there were a couple of guys at the shop with their E55's which they both dragged with impressive results. Drag race a sedan! Crazy!
