Good choice of car!
The handbook says you should use only restraint systems approved by Mercedes-Benz. It lists the following, but not all use the Automatic Child Seat Recognition system in the SL350:
Up to 10kgs - Britax Romer Baby Safe B6 686 8169 (DaimlerChrysler number)
9-18 Kgs - Britax Romer Prince B6 686 8168 (note: Be careful - the same seat with DC number B6 686 8167 does NOT work with the child recognition system)
Or
9-18Kgs - Britax Romer Romer Duo B6 686 8205
15-36 Kgs - Britax Romer Rucky B6 686 8176 (note: Be careful - the same seat with DC number B6 686 8166 does NOT work with the child recognition system)
