SL/R230: Outta the hunt.....
The good news (for me) is that I won't have to "settle" too much - I'm thrilled with my CLK55.
The good news (for everyone already on a waiting list somewhere) is that the demand for these beauties is real. I was #3 on my dealer's SL55 list; he said that list now holds SIXTY names.
Now if I could just convince myself to stop reading about the new SL's!
here in the northeast, SL500 lists don't stretch into three digits. SL55 lists don't crunch into the double digits that far.
doody.
sixty? wow. where are you located, generally speaking?

Sorry to hear your news...similar circumstances caused me to give up my CLK 55...and now I shifted my focus on the the SL in hopes things are good enough when it arrives that I can afford it...I really felt bad when I had to sell the CLK...I still miss it...but I also feel fortunate to have the ML...it's a wonderful car...
So enjoy yours!...it is a fabulous car
One thing I hope we have all learned this year is what is really important in life...nice cars are the frosting on the cake...I read all the time about cars I will never be able to own ...because I love fine engineering, and beautiful design.
Things are always out there and when the economics are better...there will always be wonderful cars to choose from.
Good luck and good health for your family...
All the best....
another Jim

At least for the foreseeable future. Called my dealer today & cancelled my SL55 order (funny how a little unemployment and looming medical bills for one of the kids will change your priorities).
