Roof Scratches!

has anyone had any problems with scratches on their roof resulting from putting the top down. i have noticed several scratches and can see where the linkage is hitting the roof panels when the top is lowered. i also have noticed a lot of rattling lately. are there adjustments they perfrom. and most importantly is MB responsible for the scratches. thanks

Cool roof scratches-

I have no roof scratches on my year old 2003 SL 500; but I did have an SLK230 for 5 years prior.
I did note a few on that roof, but realized they were caused by me - with keys attached to my SLK key--which I would have in one hand while opening the trunk lid with the other. Nothing serious!

I would say that MB would fix them because they are responsible for them unless you go offroading which I -* seriously *- doubt.

these scratches are definitely from the roof mechanism when the top is down. i can actually see wear on the hinges that touch the roof panels.

Go to your dealer as soon as you can (ok not really) and have them take a look at it. See what they say. Don't get them to charge you to do anything though. Just ask them to look around. If it's free though get the fix.

Whatever it is, its under warranty. Demonstrate the problem and the dealer will have no option but to repair it for free.
