Update for SL COMAND?
Is there a special CD/DVD disc available for updating the COMAND firmware for a 2006 SL500?
I recently installed the 2010 Navigation DVD; however, I thought with this nav disc update I would now see the destination ETA at the bottom of the COMAND display, but it's same limited info as before. That is, I thought the new nav disc would also update the COMAND system, but it appears that nothing has changed except updated map data.

Re: Nav Update
Your MB dealer can update the COMAND firmware to the later versions. I had mine updated last year as it would not load the 2010 map. Big improvement, with more features. I recall they charged me about $100 to do it.

2011.2 Navigation Update problems
Hopefully someone can help. I have a 2009 sl550 and just purchased the Nav update, version 2011.2. from Navteq. Following the directions (on both the DVD and the Comand manuals) I inserted the DVD into the DVD player and after scanning, the message is that the dissk are unreadable. Am I doing something wrong or are the disks damaged? Thanks in advance,
George

The last time I updated my nav disc, the player wouldn't read it, then would not read the previous disc version either, so I took it to the dealer. They could not ID any problem (other than it wasn't reading any discs), so they simply disconnected the player's power plug for about 5 minutes, then reconnected the power plug, which fixed the problem. Go figure.
