knocking/Hitting noise From rear SL500 2003

Hi ALL!

I have a 2003 SL500 I have a strange knocking or hitting noise coming from the rear of the car I have traced the noise to the area between the trunk and the interior It is really annoying especially when stoping at red lights IT KNOCKS KNOCKS KNOCKS!

I sounds like the gas tank problem. do a search!

I have the same problem , that knocking sound. Someone told me it was the gas tank? A problem MB has known about for years. Have you found a quick solution besides removing the top and tank?
