SL/R230: Trunk Sensor

Trunk Sensor
Just had a recent issue with my '08 SL550. I tried to lower the top but a warning said trunk lid not closed. I went back, opened the trunk, made sure everything was locked in, and tried it again. same response. I've triple checked to make sure the trunk lid was closed and since this is the first issue I've had, I'm not sure what else I can do to troubleshoot. Anyone have any suggestions before I take it to the shop?

I've found that slamming the trunk usually results in this happening (my wife slams it, not me), I just grab the handle on the bottom side and push it down smoothly without being to hard on it, that does it.

I had the same problem.
It took 4-5 trips to the dealership for them to finally figure it out. They replaced latches and a bunch of other stuff until finally they figured it out. Notes from the final repair:
PNEUMATIC SUPPLY PUMP OVERWORKED DUE TO PRECIOUSLY LEAKING TRUNK LATCH CAUSING LOW VOLUME WHEN IN USE. DETERMINED PSE PUMP AT FAULT. REPLACED PNEUMATIC SUPPLY PUMP AT TRUNK, CODED CONTROL MODULE. TRUNK LID CLOSES PROPERLY AT THIS TIME.
If you have a warranty - let them fix it. It's covered.

The problem is the vacuum pump that pulls the trunk down the last little bit. Let the dealer fix it. It should be a warrenty problem. You can try disconnecting the trunk battery and then reconnecting it as a temporary fix but long term fix will come from the dealer. This is a common problem and there are numerous threads on it.
