SL/R230: Strange noise?

Strange noise?
08 SL550 and 3 weeks ago heard a strange noise coming from underneath the car. Only happens after leaving the car parked overnight and I hear it for about 4 minutes starting a new journey and particularly over bumbs or turning and then it disappears? Sounds like a dog woofing or smashing an empty coke can. I told the service guy that I havent heard anything for the last few days, almost as if it never occured in the first place, but I can assure you, it was not a good sound.
What's really annoying is that I am having the car serviced with the local Merc dealers at present and would you believe it, they cant hear anything which really pissed me off as they probably think I am making this up.
What could this be? I thought it might be suspension as I did hit an armadillo(dead I trust) in the road, but surely they would see something underneath. My PS2's are being replaced(trying out the Hankook Evo's) as they only have about 1500 miles left and I just wondered if the tires were getting a bit worn, could this have been the noise and it went away after they warmed up? Yet why would this happen for about 3 weeks everday yet recently I am not noticing any noise.
Any help here appreciated as if its something else, would like them to investigate.

My car had a similar thing and it was a lubrication issue of the suspension. Less than $ 100 fix as there was some labor involved to remove a cover, etc...
There was a Mercedes service bulletin for R230 SLs for this a creaking noise under the front middle of the car (my car is a 2005 SL65).
