Easy fix that made a huge difference
I bought a 2003 SL500 with 54K miles on it a few months ago. I've been fighting a vibration problem ever since I got the car. The vibration was most notable around 2000 to 2500 RPMs just before it shifted gears. You could also slightly feel the vibration when the car started. After spending time on the forum and eliminating possibilities I decided to change the transmission mount. Visually the old mount appeared fine. The aftermarket part was $30 and I was able to replace it in less than 45 minutes. The car feels much smoother, quieter, and the vibration is gone. It was an easy fix that made a huge difference.
