engine whine noise
i have a 2009 SL600-best car i ever owned including a 2005 SL600 that i had for about 1 year.
the car has 22,000 miles on it. I drove it from Minnesota where i live to Port Ludlow, WA.
after about 1200 miles in Butte MT i noticed all of a sudden what i thought was transmission whine.
brought it into dealer in Seattle-transmission checked out nothing wrong.
now i think it may be an engine whine noise-broght back to dealer and they could find nothing wrong.
this is really a big deal to me as the smooth sound of the SL prior to this was incredible-now it is irritating-noticed most with top up windows closed at lower speeds 0-30mph.
can anyone help!

is it presented at idle with the hood open? is it rpm- related?
if yes- it is either your belt or (most likely) the left-most (as you are facing the engine from the front) static (non-tensioner) plastic pulley which is about to seize and disintegrate.

i can hear at idle with top up from inside car. I am not sure i can hear it with hood up. i plan to bring it in to Maplewood Imports in St. Paul, MN when i return from vacation in Port Ludlow, WA.
