Just picked her (SL550) up + Initial Questions

Hi all,

I am new to this forum and also a first time Mercedes owner. I bought a 2007 SL550 last Friday. I am attaching you couple pictures I took. Two questions I have:

1. I got the rotors (all 4) changed before I picked up the car and now the front rotors is not worn uniformly from inner diameter to outer diameter. There is a ring in the middle that has not been worn out yet. As an additional info I have not changed the brake pads since they were at a good condition. Also, I feel like the brakes are slightly touching the rotors even when not hitting the breaks since at very low speeds I feel somewhat of a friction coming from the steering wheel. I will get this checked definitely. I am attaching the picture of one of the front rotors.

2. After I picked up the car I realized the 3rd break light on the trunk has one of the holders cracked so that red plastic piece is not properly sitting on the 3rd break light (kind of delaminated). I checked online but couldn't find that piece separate from the whole 3rd break light fixture. If I could find it I could easily install it myself. In the meantime I just applied some sticky polymer to hold that piece closer to its housing and also prevent water from getting in. Does anyone know where I could find that piece only?

Here are some pictures, the quality is poor since I used my phone to take the pix.

Def needs to get your brakes fixed. Looks like the pad might not be seated properly. can you take a look at the other side of the rotor to see if its wearing correctly?

Re: Brakes

Congrats on the new car!

Get those front brake pads replaced pronto. OEM replacements like Pagid or ATE are not expensive or hard to install.

Can't comment on the 3rd brake light without a pic.

The interesting part is that both front rotors are wearing out identical to each other. I have drive to Pitts yesterday and that middle gray ring has started to wear out already (on both front rotors). So it looks like the rotor is taking the old brake pad's shape (kind of curved). I will still get it checked.

Was MIA for a while but here is my update. I have gotten the third brake light changed and also the brake discs are in perfect condition now. I have bought my car from World Subaru (North Jersey) and they were very very helpful and even changed the third brake light without charging me anything. So the next time I need another car I am definitely knocking on their door first!
