SL/R230: Sl600??

I've been reading the forums for quite a while, and I've finally registered.
Currently I am on the look out for the SL600.
For an absolute beuty like the SL, I just thought it deserved the best engine in the heart.
I've read from a couple sites that it'll be availalbe about a year after the SL500s are available.
I am ready to place an order, but havn't talked to any dealers yet, since I might be moving in the near future, and that was on my priority list.
So, before I do go in, I just wanted to get some feedback from fellow SL lovers.
It's definatly a 600, but does it also have a long list like the 500s and 55 AMGs?
And some of the biggest concerns that I've been having is whether to get it in black or silver? Sport Package or not? Mercedes rims or Brabus Monoblock Vs?
I am definately set on getting charcoal interior.
If anyone as an advice or suggestions on this, please let me know. Also does anyone know what kind of options the 600 will have?
The newcommer,
Allen
As far as color goes, that's your decision. Personally, I am a Black/Charcoal or Black/Ash kind of guy. My C240 is Black/Ash and my dad's S500 is Black/Charcoal and both look awesome.
As far as options go, I have no idea, but judging how MB has done this in the past, the 600 series is usually loaded with stuff that is optional on the 500 so I would expect them to continue this trend.
In my opinion the Sport Package is a must. I like the car to look a little bit intimidating and the AMG kits always do this. The S500 with the Sport Package looks incredible and I expect no less of an SL500 with the Sport Package.
Finally, the latest DuPont Registry magazine features the SL500 and mentions that there will be an SL600 model and I think an SL320 model. I have not read anything else, anywhere, that mentions either. Who knows if MB will even release an SL600 model?
Apparently I should have thought about this about 3 years ago, because there are 250+ people ahead of me waiting for either an Sl500 or an SL55.
Yikes! They must be selling like hot cakes over there. Daamn!

Yup... Looks that way in South Florida as well... People have been placing orders on the new SL since 1998

1998??? How can someone place an order for something that's not even released(inside information wise) yet?
as for the SL600 over the SL55, i think that's an excellent question - and one DC must be mulling over.
remember, when initially announced, the SL55 was going to be like 1800 units per year worldwide. that probably nets to something like two or three per US dealer per year! that was doubled and has gone up further since.
on the contrary, the sl600 will be built to order, so N per year where N is whatever demand is - in theory.
so once the initial pent up demand is satisfied, you'll be able to spec your sl600 and take delivery in a few months - as opposed to an sl55, where you're either on the list already or you're toast for a while ;-)
doody.

Why would someone prefer the SL600 over the SL55?
There was a question earlier about whether M-B would even make an SL600. They have to. Absolutely no doubt about it. (Well, that and the fact that the SL600 and the SL350 are already slated for production.)
Also as for the twin-turbo Maybach V12, currently codenamed Type 12, this would definitely be a possibility. Apparently the facelifted W220 S600, or even the W221 S600, will receive the detuned version of this engine, producing ~400 hp or even more. Naturally, the facelifted (or new) CL600 will also get this engine. Or at least it better!
(Now if I only had that kind of money...)

personally , I prefer the 55, however, you must take into consideration that the 55 is supercharged, a belt driven device attached to your motor that forcefeeds the exhaust for more power. Historically, turbos are good for five years of performance duty and superchargers 6-7. I am a performance enthusiast and do not mind the $7-10K I'll have to plop at the end of that duration to get a new supercharger installed. a 600 however will give you a V12 experience, more durrability the way MB are meant to be, but a 150? pounds of extra front end weight. not that the weighty would slow the car, but the curves!~!!! you will feel the weight there.
