Driver's Window Replacement - Dealer or Window Company
I'm really confused. Mercedes quoted me many hundreds of dollars to replace the drivers glass (it's scratched - looks like someone tried to scrape something off with a key - was like that when I bought it). A window company said $50 to replace it. First, I get excited, then I have visions of the cheaper company just ripping things apart, not too careful, etc;. Maybe it's because of the low cost. However, I can't remember the quote I got from MB, but it was like 5-600 dollars.
I know nothing about replacing windows, but I see my door panels in perfect condition, everything working, untouched now being taken off to get the window in and wondering if the Window Guy needs 50. that bad or the dealer is ripping me off completely and it's not that big a deal to do it.

Most glass companies I deal with are very good and very cheap. In fact, the dealer might just be subletting it out and marking it up. Just be there and watch him do it if it makes you feel more comfortable.

I would never trust the price a Mercedes dealership gives me.
I was quoted $1220+tax for my OEM windshield with no room for negotiations at DTLA MBZ. Instead, I went through a friend who works for Mercedes and got quoted $700+tax for the same part....thats nearly a $500+ markup.
