How screwed am I?????

My 2003 SL started making a squirting noise and leaked a bunch of brown oily stuff behind the driver's side wheel after the dash said ABC visit workshop. This car had been almost perfect. Only 47,000 miles..... Any ideas what is wrong and the fix/cost?

Do you have an extended warranty? If not, count on $1,500 plus.

Meh, you're a trauma doctor with a bunch of expensive cars. I'd assume $1K-3K ABC issue shouldn't be too hard for ya....

But yeah, figure a couple grand for this one.

You're screwed if the Bentley is in danger of being repo'd because you're broke. If not, $1500-$2500 for the ABC repair at a Benz dealer, that's probably intubation and some stitches for a knife wound.

Find a good independent and look at Arnott Industries. They sell rebuilt ABC struts for like $500.00 with a core exchange.

Update...

The dealer said it was an 0 ring to the tune of $485. Not so bad.

Also FYI even folks who have 'expensive' cars like 5 year old Bentleys and 3 year old Gwagens hate to spend $$$

Thanks for your help.

Wow, that's less than my MB dealer charges for a nitrogen fill!

Good work. Now quickly sell the Bentley and the Benz before they start costing you some real money.

I was very impressed with the price...

The G is still under warranty thank goodness and I just had a bearing change on the Bentley right front wheel...... Don't ask....

Perhaps a GL when the G warranty runs out.

Thanks for the advice.

Hi there!

I had a Bentley Continental R, lovely motor, beautiful handmade quality, but with a ton of niggly annoying faults that just kept getting worse and increasingly expensive. Amazing how that car could move, given its weight. Thankfully the dealer warned me there was a bunch of work that would soon need seeing to, wink wink-get rid of it-wink wink...

But worse than that was a gorgeous Aston Martin Vanquish S that I had for 3 months of which only 10 days it was in a drive-able condition on my driveway, the rest being at the dealer's workshop (engine fault soon after receiving it revealed a misfire that resulted in 12 new engine coils -thankfully fully covered under an extended warranty and an electrochromatic auto dipping rear view mirror that leaked a corrosive fluid onto the center console which they declined to fix). Great, great, charismatic car- when it worked.

Just got a nice, low miles '05 SL 55 AMG, which I really like. It too has an ABC issue which is being diagnosed at the moment. If my bill comes to $500, I will be a very happy camper!
