What to look out for?
09 SL550 coming up to her 4th Birthday and still considering an extended Warranty. Trying to assess what's starts to go wrong? I know every Merc could have a different situation, but usually there is a common denominator with these cars and crap happens.............just trying to get an indication of the likely parts that could need replacing and generally what could be expected to happen. For example, whilst she is still under warranty, I have noticed that the starter motor is not firing immediately...................and obviously if I don't get an extended, this would cost me money, but it will happen, as it always does, so appreciate your detailed comments.............
You ever can tell. My 04 had the top hydraulic pump crap out. $2,100.00 later. I immediately bought an extended warranty after I paid the repair. MB should be embarrassed by these issues

Come on guys...........413 views and one answer? I know it's not an easy question to answer, as who knows what can happen.............but I am trying to get a rough guide on what starts to deterioate after 4 years..For instance, depending on how one drives.........every 2 years or so I have to change the tires............
help me out here please.....

I'm not sure what starts to wrong on these cars first. Im not sure if age and mileage play a major factor in an order when things break down but if your going to keep your car i strongly suggest to extend your warranty. These cars are expensive to maintain and we tend to have top issues...
Well, not engine related, the soft close on the trunk, struts leaking, pump for the trunk, pump for the top, pump for the struts, door handle, alarm. Every mech I've talked to has said that the SL's are best owned with a warranty, after that, appreciated from a distance. Warranties are usually easier to get while you still have one, kinda like girlfriends and jobs.
