Brake Rotors-can they be turned

My Indy is telling me that the rotors on my SL were designed thin to save weight and cannot be turned. Anyone heard this? My rear pads are getting down to the 20 percent level. If I do need to replace the rotors would you recommend the factory MB rotors?

I was told the same thing. I was replacing my pads with ceramic pads to cut down on the brake dust. The factory rotors are not very expensive so I just replaced them. I would highly recommend the Akebono ceramic pads. I purchased mine from Rockauto.com

Local parts store wouldn't turn down for me.
I found a local machine shop that did.
