04 Cadillac CTS-V, 04 MB SL600, 99 Mustang GT Anniversary Edition
Swap/upgrade R230 2004 Command Unit with 2005 Command unit
I'm curious if this is possible or difficult to accomplish. I realize the bezel would need to be changed out - but would the command unit fit and 'plug n play'?

No, it doesn't work.
Here's some info about the difference between comand 2.0 that's in the 2002-2004 sl and the newer 2.5 that came in 2005.

As you can see the old D2B fiber optic system is replaced by the MOST system in 2005, and it's NOT interchangeable at all.
