SL/R230: Red battery icon/visit workshop

-02 SL500, -00 Audi TT Quattro
Red battery icon/visit workshop
Hello my friends! I get this message to the screen: red battery icon and visit workshop in red. All things seems to function properly. The rear battery has been changed, the voltage in both batteries is good and they are charging. So what is the matter? The car has been in a crash, where it got hit in the front but I dont understand the messages cause everything related to batteries is working fine. The car is 2002 SL500 R230,

Your engine start battery may be worn down. The SL has two batteries.

Yeah, I guess it could be. Altough, when we measured it, it was ok. Cant remember the voltages anymore.

I got the same message last summer. It was on and off a while. One day I accelerated on block from my house, it was on again, then everything was shutdown likes breaks had no pressure, the temperature gage went up to the red level, and all the warning lights on dashboard were on. Next day I had it towed to specialized MB mechanic, he checked the batterry in the trunk and it kept draining but it was replaced about two years ago and he said it wasn't about going bad. But when he unplugged the alternator, the batterry stopped draining. So he was end up replacing the alternator and he said if it happened again after the alternator replaced, he would put the old one back at no cost and refined back the new one. Since then, the message never displayed again.
