2004 SL600 sluggish throttle response

I wonder if anybody had this issue with their sl600;
If I hit the accelerator at speeds around 30-40 mph there is a long delay and sluggish acceleration at first. Only starts going after the transmission down shifts. This happened one morning and present ever since. Car was checked by MB dealer, no codes were found, they are telling me this is normal for this car. Of course car was better before.
Thanks.

a few cars, few bikes,04 SL55
It might be a accelerator pedal sensor, which is a gas pedal assembly. I order mine here parts.com

here the message when I bought from them

The sensor is sold with the pedal assembly only.The pedal assembly part number is 2303000104 price $211.20

I am just guessing please check carefully and good luck with your your situation.

Have you thought about resetting the ECU. There is a thread here that tells you how. I did mine and it made a huge difference.

+1 on ECU reset. Better yet, upgrade the ECU software

Thanks guys for the responses. I apologize not responding sooner sooner, I wanted to let you know what happened since...
I took the car to Qeensway Mercedes in Toronto. This is what happened:
They told me it will take 2hours to diagnose the car. They charged me $309 to tell me that there is nothing wrong with my car. They reset the computer, updated the software and scanned for codes. Next day I went back and took the mechanic for a test drive and showed him the problem. During the test drive I asked him about turbo pressure and his response was that this car has ho turbo!!! After this the service rep. told me to leave the car and promised to give it to a more experienced mechanic. A week later they called me back and told me I have to pay an extra $1200 for the tests they did and told me everything seems ok they don't know why the sluggishness. I ended up paying half the bill and took the car home. I noticed when I got out of the car that the rad is leaking. I took it back to the dealer, long story short, they cracked the rad at the hose connection. The bill was $1200 of which I had to pay half again otherwise I wouldn't get my car from them. I'm down $1500 and the car is not fixed. Yes I will sue, but I wonder what could be the problem if it isn't showing up on any scan and on tests they did.
Anyone in Toronto stay away from Qeensway Mercedes Benz!

Check for oil in the intercooler and try to replace MAP sensor (MB has some other fancy name for it), but it is the small black sensor on top of the engine passenger side - you will see the small air hose going to it from passenger side intercooler and electrical connector. It is 70$ or so at MB. I would also check spark plugs, but MAP sensor would be my guess if ECU flash did not help and it would not show on the scan tool. It is pretty hard to diagnose the issue without having the car...
You are welcome to come by and I will gladly swap the sensor with my own SL600 to test my theory.

Igor.
