Roof will not go up or down and no error codes
Hi, I was trying to close my 2004 SL500's roof and it stopped working just as the trunk opened a few inches and the roof started to move a few inches. It will not go up or down. It does not show any fault codes to indicate what the issue is. Any suggestions? My indy has checked the switches, all the modules, etc and says they are not the issue. He can also move the top manually without any issues and can see all contacts are working as they should. Thanks

I had a similar problem last year. There are two hydraulic arms in the trunk that lift covers when the top is put down. If one of these arms goes bad, you won't be able to put the top down and will receive no error messages. MB quoted me around $600 to put a hydraulic kit in. An independent put the same kit in for around $250.

Thanks for the info. I will tell my indy what you suggest. Would really like to get it fixed since it has been in the shop now for over 4 weeks with them trying to figure out what the problem is. I bought the car to enjoy the summer weather and unfortunately I do not have the car to enjoy it.

Thanks for the suggestion Re: hydraulic pump in the trunk. My indy said had checked that and also the hydraulic arms and all is fine with them. He thinks it is some wire that connects to the SAM that is not working and therefore not talking to the rest of the components to work. I hope that is it and I can have my car back for a top down weekend.
