A question about SL wheels
Does anyone know how to make S55 or E55 wheels fit the SL?
I know there is an offset difference, but is it safe to use spacers and if so any suggested suppliers?
There are other issues: bolt sizes/lengths; any expertise out there?

Bolt pattern and bolt size are not a problem. They are all the same between W220, W211 and R230. The biggest issue is offset. Why do you want to put S55/E55 wheels on a SL?? Are you referring to the Style IV 18" one-piece? Adding spacers will probably do the trick, but....make sure you're getting a set of high quality spacers.

Yes, I like the one piece, five double spoke AMG wheels, but they are not available in the R230 offset. The two piece wheels are very nice but a bit overstated, and nearly three times the price. Hence the question.
Where can I get such high quality spacers, and what makes spacers high quality? Is bolt length an issue?

I think if you were to get the E55 wheels, you might not need spacers. The offsets for the E55 wheels are ET30/ET39 and your SL can fit the 18" Style III or Style V with ET30/ET33 offsets. Perhaps you can get away with the rear or maybe just get a 5mm spacer. The front should be fine.
