2004 SL600 Won't start
Drove my SL on Saturday, started and stopped several times, and no indication of problem. Didn't drive it on Sunday. Then this morning ready to leave first thing, and try to start the car, nothing. The first try the car did about a 1/2 turn, and then next try nothing. Of course all electronics are working fine, just no start at all.
Have replaced the consumer electronics battery with a new AGM battery 3 months ago, but didn't do anything with the starter battery. Weird thing is that it wont start with my Jump Battery nor with jumper cables off my Mazda CX9. It got close to starting after I recharged the jumper battery (Really slow going, but didn't, then next try nothing)
Wrench shows after trying to start the car. I called my local MB dealer, Plano - and they have the battery in stock, it's $155.
Thoughts? I hope it's nothing more than a "suddenly" failed battery. Since this battery is only relied on to start the car, I am surprised that it's failed so suddenly. The car is an 04 and only has 18,300 miles and I think it's an original battery.
Thanks for any responses
Joe

2004 SL500
I have an 04 SL500 and it had the original battery. The date is on the top of the battery. Mine started to turn over slowly. My guess is if it's the original battery, I would start there.

I'm 99% sure it's the starter battery. Trying to jump with regular cables won't work since it needs about 600 to start. Get the new starter battery and you'd be good.

I got the starter battery - from MB Plano. Cost $155 plus core plus tax (Almost $200). Installed it, and car started perfect. Only thing now is after starting the car the instrument panel shows the red battery icon and says take the car to the workshop?? Really?
