Anyone tried getting a collapsible spare (225 or so/50/18) to use as a spare for the older R230? I had the 'blow up' bottle on my M Roadster.. and never felt comfortable without a spare.
Seems a collapsible spare should work .. the SL500s have them.

Yes. I could use the SpaceMaster spacesaver spare. What size is it? I see you just joined the forum yet you have an SL63 and an SL55 and a CLK55 AND a CLS55. That's quite a collection of '55s' and a V12. How come you just found us now? Are you a dealer?

That size will not fit the front of the SL55 as the brakes are too large for the rim. The size that fits is: 195/75-18 or 175/75-18. Both are 18 inch rims and fit front or back on the SL55. The spare wheel you have is for the SL500 with the 17 inch wheels.
It could be used for a spare but if you have a front flat you have to put the spare on the rear and move the good rear to the front. A lot of work but doable.
I prefer to hold out for an 18 inch collapsible / inflatable MB spare such as on the R350.
