SL/R230: Any advice on polishing scratched door sills?

2009 SL550
Any advice on polishing scratched door sills?
I purchased my 2009 SL550 pre-owned.
I am very happy with its overall condition as the car truly looks
beautiful and 'like new'.
The only thing that shows wear are the doors sills (pretty much driver's side only).
Has anyone tried to polish there? Buffer? Dremel tool? Elbow grease and metal polish compound?

What would you recommend ?

1972 American General M35A2, 2007 SL600
I have the same problem with my 2007 SL600. Did you try anything that worked, since noone else had any ideas?

I use Mr. Clean Magic Erasers, they work really well
