Panoramic roof - opinions welcomed

Anyone know if adding the panoramic roof option is a sure fire way to delay build date for the new sl (R230)?

Assuming it would cost four grand as before I had decided against including this option. However, now that we learn it is only $1800 am rethinking it. Bottom line, does it add $1800 in resell value.? Those who have had the panoramic roof on the current SL feel that the option was worth it even at the higher price?
Also, assume there are some trade-offs that may still suggest against the option, i.e. added noise, loss of insulation?

I don't live in the sunbelt so am not concerned about added heat. Fact is with the weather more often requiring the top up than down, wonder if I would regret not getting the panoramic roof?

Glass lid

I was at a dealer today and they had one with the glass lid. I too thought there would be a delay but they are already in production. In my opinion, it is worth getting. It makes the inside feel bigger. I am holding out for the glass lid. If money matters, the glass is better than extra cost paint.

I have had both metal and glass roofs on R129 SLs - the glass roof is *great*, makes the car feel light and airy in the winter

I have a SL55 due June/July (when they are launched in UK (we are right-hand-drive here)) - but the glass roof wont be avaialble until next year according to my MB dealer, who specifically checked with MB UK.

Looking at the German MB web site, theres a new price list date end of Jan 2002, and I think the glass roof is on that but for SL500 only.

I'd love the glass roof - but I'd prefer the SL55 asap over the SL500 or a SL55 next year - so the answer is clear for me. No panoramic roof :-(
