Center Console Latch Broken?
Hello Everyone. Recently bought a used 2004 SL500. had a couple minor issues with car here but worked most of them out.
one problems that remains is the latch to the center console. it seems to autmatically "spring toward" the driver side of the car, where i think it should be stopped in the center position (but not sure). I attached a couple of photos here.
basically my lid will not lock down and snap tight, not will it lock with air pressure system obviously.
My question is, has anyone seen this before? And does anyone have a service guide in order to access it? i already took off the wood bezel to get to the ashtray today, hoping it would give me some access but had no luck.
anyone have any idea what i need to do to get access to this latch? or any other helpful tips to repair it.

Sorry to resurrect an old thread. I'm having the same issue with my '04 SL.
Anyone come up with a fix? When I search for this via Google or the site search this is the only thread I can find regarding this exact issue.

I bought a complete console on e-bay for about $150. That fixed the problem.
