SL/R230: Assurant

Assurant
Just upgraded my near perfect '96SLto an '05 SL500 (AMG, pano, sport). Quite a difference and lots more technical. My independent mechanic strongly suggested I buy warranty insurance. My car insurer, USAA. offers a product via Assurant. It looks like good coverage of most of the expensive items and not too pricey. Does anyone have experience with Assurant and an SL??

on the other MB forum site there is discussion on Extended Warranty and people have been talking about COSTCO Executive plan, and some others like Tier one, AUL, AWA, Old Republic & AAA ... so far I found Costco offers quite reasonable rates and well coverage.

Vehicle Extended Warranty Assurant
Hey..., so far I found the following..
Costco coverage is through Century Warranty. It sounds like good coverage but is expensive
USAA/Assurant also appears good.
AAA and the MB dealer haven't gotten back to me
Prices for 3years/36,000 more miles coverage:
Costco $250deduct...........$5465
Costco 0 ded....................$9,037
Fidelity $250 ..................$6,011
USAA/Assurant 0 ded ....$3,533
The only glitch with Assurant coverage, so far, is they don't cover shocks because they are a wear item. These are quite expensive so I called MB dealer parts and the struts are called "hydro-pneumatic spring leg" so don't let them say shocks when they call for authorization.
If you haven't heard of USAA it's for Military/Govt employees and any Vet can qualify. It's outstanding insurance for home, car and now warranty. Get it if you can.
