HELP! ABC question + Other issues
I am located overseas and was looking at a few R230s. I have read extensively through this forum and many others and the ONE dreaded word that everyone is speaking off is "ABC". The posts are endless. I would like to ask:
What is the general reliability of the ABC system? If I find an SL500 with decent maintenance history and no ABC faults or leakages, how soon can I expect the ABC lights to start flashing? Or is there no way of telling?
I've read that the SL350 does not have ABC and it is more reliable in that sense. I am not sure if they have the SL350 in the American market but it was sold here in the Middle East. Anybody have info on that particular version?
Lastly, here is a list of repairs needed on a recent R230 I saw. The person was selling it for $12,500. The indy who inspected it gave me the following list and quoted just as much for the repairs. All in all the car would've cost me around $24,000. I did not go forth with the sale. However, for future reference I would like to ask which of these repairs are imminent issues and which are not. As I do not have much knowledge of technical things especially cars. So for example, I would not know if a leaking engine mount is a major problem or a minor one. (Sorry for the lack of knowledge)

6. ME-SFI CONTROL MODULE FAULTY – STAR PRINTOUTS IN FILE
7. FRONT LHS BULK HEAD DAMAGED
8. BOTH RADIUS ROD BALL JOINT BOOTS SPLIT AND BUSHES CRACKED
9. BOTH SPRING LINK BUSHES CRACK
10. REAR ENGINE UNDER GUARD DAMAGED
11. ALL ENGINE MOUNTS COLLAPSED/FRONT LEAKING
12. REAR CRANK OIL SEAL LEAKING
13. GEAR SELECTOR LEVER ROD BUSHES MISSING
14. BOTH REAR ABC STRUTS LEAKING
15. PROP SHAFT FRONT FLEXIBLE DISK CRACKED
16. ALL BRAKE DISKS CORRODED
17. LHS HEADLAMP NOZZLE NOT WORKING (PIPE BROKEN)
18. BRAKE OIL AND ABC OIL CONTAMINATED
19. FRONT LHS ABC LINE NOISY (HISSING NOISE – POSSIBLE VALAVE BLOCK FAULT)
20. BODY CORROSION ON REAR RHS QUARTER PANEL
