wheel offset advise needed

Hi eveyone,

I have forgestar f14's, +40 front offset with 10mm spacers and +24 in the back. I don't really like this setup on the c63 due to the really low fenders.

What do you think about having +30 in the front and +24 in the back on the SL500, will the wheels rub the fenders?

If this is going to be a problem, what do you think about lowering tire width, from 285 to 265?

Thanks for any input,
Andrey

Not a problems for SLs.
Et30 front for 8.5" (assuming its 8.5", even if its 9" its fine too) clears even AMG calipers.
Et24 rear is fine (actually perfect) too as long as wheels are not wider than 10.5", but judging by where they came from (C63) they're most likely not wider than 10".

Yeah, front is 18x8.5 and back is 18x9

So, you think it should be ok even with 285's in the back?

Well actually no its not OK. 18x9 for SL is too narrow and 285/35-18 is not recommended for narrower than 9.5". Providing full specs disclosure is a key to get a correct fitment advice, since its not known if you even have 285/35-18 rear and 255/40-18 front (as one should for R230) on C63.

that's exactly what I have on r230, stock 255x40x18 and 285x35x18.

the rims are

18x8.5 ET 40 + 10 mm spacers -front
18x9 ET 24 - rear

So what do you think I should do, go with smaller tires or not install the rims?

I can not answer that, its up to you. Also, its a little bit confusing since it sound like you already have them on R230.

All I can do is confirm that wheels with tires as specified above will fit SL, but I personally would be a bit "uncomfortable" with 285/35 on 9" since R230 is much heavier than C63 (but as long as the tire stays on the wheel, its going to be OK, worst case - you'll switch to 275/35).

Glad I found this thread because I need some help. I am hoping the following will fit fine on his SL.

Front 245/35R19 ET 35
Rear 275/30R19 ET 20

Sorry to threadjack, but he is getting all different answers from the idiot at Town Fair Tire, which I FORBIDDED him to go to, but he doesn't listen.

Thoughts?

Whoops my bad... my brother's car. I'm a BMW guy

Anyways, the rims only come in an 45+ offset. I am going to get some spacers and we'll take it from there.

Wheel Offset

I've been going through this for a couple weeks now as I was trying to fit up a set of rims that were not made for my 04 SL600.

I'm told that standard offset for the stock 18's is about 35 front and back. Getting an offset of 15-20 will bring the wheel more closer inline with the fender and fill the wheel well better. I was buying +45 offset and was going to use a 25mm adapter/spacer to fit up the wheels thus they would have been about a +20 offset. I'm told if you go down to a 10mm offset, you may need to roll the fenders to get clearance. Decided against this solution due to my brother (sport compact car racing guru) said he recommends against spacers for heavy cars.

Soooo...I bought a set of beautiful chrome Giovanna's that I'm told is guaranteed to fit by the wheel company online sales consultant, they are:

20 x 8.5 +25 front
20 x 10.5 +20 rear
He says they will line up nicely. I'm putting Hankook V12's 255/30r20's on the front and 305/25r20's on the rears. I'm told this will be a perfect fit. I'll take pix when they show up...should be mid next week.
