AMG did a test up to 208mph with the SL55, so I guess they have the tyres that fit !
Plus, think about a Ferrari 456GTM that weight like 3800lbs and have a top speed around 200mph, and of course there is tyres for that car.

The Ferrari 456GTM has 255/45/ZR17 & 285/40ZR17 tires. The 911 Turbo & the 911 GT2 have ZR rated tires. A ZR tire is rated to 149mph. WR rated tires go to 168mph and YR rated tires go to 186mph. There are no passenger car tires with a 200+mph speed rating.
So the article is current! There are no tires for the rated speed 'potential' of the 2002 SL55 AMG.
