2003 SL55 AMG sensors
Hi Group,
I am new to this forum. I have a 2003 SL55AMG. I love the car, and it runs great, but have had several sensors go bad. First, accelerator kick-down switch (on the accelerator pedal), then a transmission plate sensor, now exhibiting symptoms (cranks fine, but will not fire up, let sit a little while, starts fine) of needing a CPS (Crankshaft Position Sensor). Great car, but with so many electronic sensors, should I expect to replace them all over time?
On a related note, does anyone have a protocol for changing the CPS? It seems pretty simple, after removing air intake, rear of driver side cylinder bank. Is it easily reached, and what wrench/extension is needed? Do I need to have anything re-set with the STAR computer, or can I just DIY?? Thanks in advance!
