Advice on Carlsson Muffler for 09 R230??
Hello all, any suggestions or feedback about Carlsson mufflers? Currently listed on eBay for SL55 new selling for $1250 for mufflers only not entire exhaust system.
I'm just looking for a slight rumble versus my stock mufflers on my SL550. Does anyone know if these are good and will it be very loud on my car?? Since it's dual tips I'm probably going to have to modify/cut my diffuser as well right? Or maybe I just put it up to my original tips.
Any advice for this novice would be greatly appreciated as I'm thinking of pulling the trigger this weekend.
Thank you.

Ivpete, i have no answer to your question, but I'm interested in your results. Let us know if you pull the trigger. I've read many threads on this topic in past. I believe you are right about modifying diffuser and I've not heard of anyone using original tips on 55 mufflers. Likewise, I've not heard of anyone using 55 mufflers on a SL 550. Pls keep us updated. I too would like a bit more rumble from the rear. Gary

Kensan, that would be greatly appreciated. I love how the 63 stock sound so I'm very curious to hear how the Carlsson sounds. Did you just change muffler only or did you alter pipes and or anything else? The reason I ask is I just want to change the mufflers only.
Looking forward to your PM or email is also fine at lvpete1@yahoo.com
BTW the new exhaust tips on your car look awesome.
Thank you very much!

i changed the mufflers & put MBH Headers on. the Carlsson mufflers are even a little deeper now that they're "broken in". no droning in the cabin on the freeway either. i've sent the video clips to your email address.

Thank you Zhengyucoo,
That's good to know. I have been out of town in CA for the holidays so this has still been in limbo for me and not to mention the communication with the seller has left me confused on the fitment.
He has this size measurement on the post so I'm going to do some measuring when I get back to town.
He did mention that he had diffusers available but that it would have to be glued on which sounds a bit weird to me as I assumed you would bolt on body pieces but then again I'm no expert there....

No need to use the glue. Just a self tapping screw or two to hold it tight in place. The diffuser need little cutting to fit dual tips. It comes with single outlet and cut the surrounding lines to fit dual tips. Comes in matte black coating. Or you can get some sort of after market carbon fiber diffuser, but one thing is that the carlsson tips are smaller than amg

Electric cut out is like a y pipe with open close function...... Bypass the mufflers to make the exhaust straight pipe... When you swich it open the exhaust will be straight out from the cut out when it's closed the exhaust will go the old route. So whenever you need sound you turn it on.
