Why can't we get this here in the States?!
Stumbled on this unit while searching for an alternative to the '03's outdated command. It's from a Japanese company named Sampo. It's an 8" touchscreen unit that supposedly incorporates factory buttons. As I'm narrowing down my options to the new 8" Alpine unit with a custom install, I'd rather go the route of a more factory look. I hear this unit interprets to about $8k USD and can only use Japan's maps but if it were available for a decent price I would certainly consider it!
Here is what I am planning on doing in the next week or so, only I will rap my wood trim and bezel in carbon fiber, w/ matching shift knob & steering wheel from dtcmotorsports.com

On top of the reliability issues I have also heard that the chinese units are NOT plug and play (despite what some may claim) with our fiber optic wiring harnesses.
I would believe this to be true as the only actual plug/play interface module I've found that truly allows you to connect an aftermarket head unit into our factory amp/speakers is about $600.00 itself and took extensive research and development time to make. I bet these Chinese units have standard RCA connectors off the back and it's expected the customer make it work from there.
