2005 SL55 keeps locking it's doors
Since the other day my SL55 continually locks it's doors about 30 seconds after I unlock them.
This began since I put the car on the lift to do some work underneath. The car locks/chirps (I have a smartop module) and if I unlock the car it locks itself up about 30 seconds later. The drivers side window is down and the hood is up. I tried putting the key on the drivers seat (I have keyless go) thinking the car may detect the key and not do it. Sure enough it did it again!
Earlier this week I stopped briefly and was speaking to a friend when the car locked itself. I unlocked it and about :30 seconds later it locked itself. I unlocked the car and it did not do it again.
I've read that there is a battery in the siren/module in the drivers side wheel well that when it gets low/dies makes the alarm go crazy?
Only other thing I did was before pulling the car onto the lift I reset the Service A reminder.
Any ideas?
Thanks!

vtvette,
From your owners manual page 96..................
To me, it seems like paranoia on theft protection. Reminds me of a friend of mine that locks his car in my driveway when he is standing right next to it and we're talking. Maybe he's afraid that I might rob him!

I agree with mercy that the relock is normal so if this is after about 30-40 seconds then you are good. If it happens sooner then there is another problem.
I had a similar issue with my car that has key-less go and the fix was a new drivers side door handle. It seems like the micro-switch in the handle goes bad. Other symptoms I had was that the car would not lock when pressing the lock button on the handle.
The new handle was fairly easy to install and I believe that with paint it was about $160.
One other thing, I also have a SmartTop module but it had no impact on the problem. If it does turn out to be the module, I would recommend that you contact Mods4Cars and get them to help out.
I had an issue where the operation of the top would not continue after the car was turned off. They did a remote debug session into the module with me on the phone and got the problem fixed (actually there is anew firmware version out for the 230 with my 'name' on it ). These guys are great!
