audio thread, input welcome
I have a 2005 SL and I am going to gut the stereo soon, I will either use an extra dnx 7140 I have or change out to a kenwood 990hd, but I have 2 kenwood excelon reference series amps, one is the mono for my sub (13tw5 mounted factory location in fiberglass box) and the other is a 4 channel. I am curious how people set up the factory speakers, I know there is a 6.5 and 4 in the door, along with a 4 in the dash and two 4's out back. I was thinking of having the deck power the rear 4's and possibly the front 4 (not sure if these are worth replacing or keeping factory) and have either a three way component in the doors or have two components in the doors and have the extra set of high's mounted in the rear. I like audio but don't need mind blowing so thoughts on brands and models would be appreciated. I know focal is awesome, but probably over kill for my ears. I would like some clean highs and punchy midrange in addition to the sub I have now.

2007 SL550
I'm updgrading the audio in my 2007 SL550. After a bit of research, I've decided to keep the stock speakers and Bose amp. There's a MOST-interface convertor to get your analog audio onto the fiber optic bus. Very cost effective, and reports are the audio quality with good aftermarket head units are far superior to the (turdgasm) Comand system. Also, I'm planning on using this interface to get steering wheel controls into the aftermarket unit as well.
I'm leaning toward the new Pioneer NEX unit when it's released next month.

I would be very interested in your experience with the steering wheel control unit, I would like to keep my volume function if I can and that is a great price for that unit
