Corroded boot closure sensors

Hi guys,
Just been told by MB dealer that it will cost £500/600 to sort!
Is it easy to get at them and clean these sensors?
Boot closes securely, but system flags up a malfunction.
Other alternative would be to disconnect/deactivate so it doesn't trigger the
system - is that possible??

There are two switches that comprise an assembly within the boot lid's latch mechanism. One is a signal to the PSE pump to activate the latch mechanism, and the other is a signal that the latch is closed. The latch must be confirmed closed while driving, or you get the error message, of course. Less obvious is that both switches must be closed for the top to operate.

The switch assembly can be purchased as part number 230-820-56-10. It cost around 50 quid. Since your existing ones can be removed and replaced, perhaps they can be cleaned.

You'll need to unbolt the latch mechanism from the boot lid (picture). There is a write-up of the simple procedure here: https://mbworld.org/forums/4121634-post1.html

The two switches in the assembly terminate in a 14-socket electrical connector located in the left corner of the boot. As a last resort grounding these may eliminate the error message and roof operation, but automatic trunk pull-down/latching probably would not work, and there may be unforseen side effects.
