Hey guys, can anyone tell me what the banging noise is, coming from the back seat area. Thought at first it was the gas tank baffle, but sounds like it is between the back seat and the trunk area of my 03 sl500.As i rock the car i can hear the noise and it does not seem to be the gas tank...

Check the suspension. Worn out or loose shocks and/or the suspension.

Chack it any thing loose in the truck and spare tire area.

Thanks Dave, as I shake the car it does sound like a baffle but it seems to be coming from the space between the back seat and the trunk behind the vario roof separator. Could it resonate that high??

After research on here and other forums It seems to be the dreaded gas tank baffle. Will attempt the spring fix and see what happens.... Don't think Mercedes will want to fix this since I'm out of warranty and the car is 11 years old..
