2004 SL600 soft close trunk pump

HI.
I have a soft close trunk issue. I have preformed the latch fix that Sticky recommended, and still a no go. So now I have located the pump in the trunk ( I should have gone to the pump first!!!) and found that the reservoir is only one quarter full. My question is has anyone tried to fill the reservoir without removing the complete unit? I cannot see an opening to fill it. If any one has a easy fix for this, It would be very much appreciated.
Thanks Brian.

Reservoir, filled with fluid/oil? Sounds like you are looking at the vario roof pump assembly

The soft close trunk latch is pneumatically driven and uses the PSE pump, which is in a dense foam box under the vario roof pump.

First off your PSE pump is working, right? This operates the central locks and lumbar / multi-contour seats as well, so test them for operation.

If those other functions work - the PSE is not dead, but it will shut down a faulty output line for excessive runtime to prevent pump failure due to a leak. Have you removed the PSE fuse and reinserted AFTER performing the trunk latch fix to 'reset' it? If not, do this first and report back.
If you have done the fuse reset following the repair and no go, a visual inspection of the pump won't hurt - some have experienced melted output line nipple(s) on the pump manifold.
