There are places a lot cheaper than your example. I paid less than $600 US and the install was relatively painless. I'm happy to supply details if you need them.
Thank you in advance.

Thanks

I found the unit here.

And of course much cheaper than in Sweden.
RoundTheBenz- Is this where you purchased yours?

It looks like you've found a cheaper source but I did get free shipping and it also included the maps & sd card so in the end, I think mine was cheaper.
One thing I would say is don't get the wireless transmitter for the backup camera. It caused me real headaches with the ABC system from some kind of interference.
theboogers, It does have BT to connect your telephone hands free as well as the ability to stream your favorite music. It also has iPod and USB connections as well as another sd card slot for additional devices & media. What it does not have is voice control.

Also its too bad it doesn seem to offer xm sirius radio. Thanks for the reply.

What do you mean by 'ran it directly into the new head unit that has an internal one'?
Your car has an optical connection from the old COMAND unit to the Bose amp. Did you run the speaker output wires from the new unit directly to the speakers in your car? Thereby bypassing the optical cables and Bose amp?
Also how is the Bluetooth phone with the top down? I am concerned that the microphone may not be in a good location, and will pick up wind noise. Most Parrot and aftermarket systems have a mini microphones that can be mounted near the rearview mirror. Some have two mini microphones and they noise cancel each other (look at the newer Parrot systems)
I can't see any external microphone with this kit. It seems that it may be a tiny hole in the unit itself, with a microphone behind it.. I'm concerned if that's the case, that the microphone will suck. I need to be talking while driving, not just at traffic lights. I realize highway driving won't be very good in any type of convertible + phone situation, but can I make calls in the city with people hearing me OK?
1. Older SL's like my 2003 have a ring of wood that goes all around the radio. So the radio basically installs in a 'hole' in the wood.
2. Newer SL's have no wood any higher than the cupholders. All of the space above the cupholders is radio and nothing else.
These Chinese units seem to all be #2 above. Which means I'll have to cut off the 'ring of wood' from the top of my console to be able to install.
For anyone who installed in an older SL (2003 and maybe 2004) did it install in the 'hole' as with #1 above, or did you have to cut the wood because the unit only fits style #2 above?
