Goodbye to the 2009 SL550
Well, I have to say that this has been one of the more exciting cars to drive that I have ever owned. I have moved from FL, and am now living in VA and I thought it was time.
I had a few mechanical issues and even though the car was under warranty, when the ABC system failed and my wife was driving, it sort of sealed the deal. I used the car as a daily driver and questionable reliability was just not an option.
I went with an Audi S5 (mainly because of AWD) and I am pleased with the new purchase although it doesn't have that top down, V8 punch that made the SL fun to drive.
I have enjoyed the forum and it was helpful in many situations for advice. The car is in Vienna, VA and really is a good car, I just couldn't give it the attention it needed (and I don't have a garage here).
Thanks
Wes

The ABC is a killer for most. I keep thinking about the conversion to coils but decided to just start stockings parts for the inevitable day. Though apparently flush and filter make a huge difference and fluid and filters for ABC have shipped. After the looking at the condition of my cabin filters I am sure nothing was done on ABC by the PO.
There's a great bike shop in Vienna that is a recumbent and folding bike shop called Bikes @ Vienna. The trails are nice in the area. The road traffic is awful. Then there is a giant mess just to your north as you cross the Potomac before getting closer towards up here in MD but it's only 10 miles and you put DC behind you. DC traffic is a nightmare.
I've lived here most of my life and it used to be a nice place. You might regret leaving Florida.
Why didn't you go with a E class drop top?

As for the E-Class, it wasn't was I was looking for (350)…I would have gone with the 550, but you couldn't get 4Matic…
I wasn't going to do a lateral trade…I ended up going with an Audi S5…sporty enough to give me that fun to drive feel, and the quattro will be of help in the winter…I am sure that I will be back in an SL in the future…but the S5 is pretty darn fun right now.

Thanks…and I am guessing that you are referring to the Audi…I need to get rid of the front license plate holder, tint the windows and ride out winter…
Don't get me wrong…I loved that SL, just couldn't trust it...

C300 4MATIC And formerly 73 450SL
Your taste in cars is impecable. That SL is beautiful. But then...so is that Audi. And your choice of location isn't bad either. You gotta love VA.
Best of luck to you. Selling that SL had to be tough. Bet you didn't have it for sale for long. Talk about curb appeal.
