Question Touch Of Class?

I just picked up mine 04 sl500 yesterday. The salesperson introduced me this protection deal called TOUCH OF CLASS. It's supposed to take care of the exterior paint/fabric/leather so that they will be in good shape for about 5 yrs or so. It costs $795. Has anyone done this before? Any pros&cons? Tks.

Congrats on then new car. I agree with AlBoston. There idea of "good shape" and yours is probably going to differ. Keeping it away from the car wash and only hand washing the car along with a good wax will keep it looking new. You would probably do this anyway so there is no reason to throw away the money. Use the money on a full detail to condition & protect the paint and interior. I have a company come to my house and do the washings and waxing. All my cars look better than they did new from the dealership.

AlBoston, What should I do now? Should I let the car sit till dirty then do the wash-clay-wash-wax process? Or should I do the process right away now? Can i still do this process with Zaino's products if i get the Touch-of-class thing? Would the zaino products or even just DAWN take away the touch-of-class-coating the dealership puts on the car? And how often should i do this process, cuz i read your input in Detailing and automotive forum. It sounds like a lot of work. Tks for the info, guys.

clkmon,

Zaino is one of the best products out there. I used it on all of my cars. It does require a lot of steps to get the paint to look its best. Depending on the color of the car, you may want to have a good detail guy do the work who uses Zaino. At least the first time to do all of the stages. Then you can wash and wax as needed depending on where you live and how often you drive the car.I live in Arizona and have the wax applied once a month and do the entire process every 6 months on the cars I drive often. On the touch of class, when you do zaino you will most likely remove what ever protectant the dealership puts on. I would bet the zaino would be a better protectant than the one from the dealership. I would do the Zanio asap.

AlBoston, thanks for all the info. I've calling everywhere, but can't find any detail shop that uses Zaino products. Should I get the stuff and have them do it for me, even they never used it before? And I also heard from a guy who owns a shop that I should never put Dish-soap on a car, cuz it dries out the paint. True?

No one will use thier products because they take its takes a long time, and its costly to shops probably, the best way is to bug the hell out of alboston, and he'll teach you Dawn souldnt be used a lot at all, use it the first time to only get rid of all of the dealers stuff, and stuff from the factory, it will basically take everything off, but dont ever wash your car with dawn on a regular basis, i think once a year is fine. i cant truly answer that, i would ask that question directly to alboston in the detailing forum, if it isnt much hassle to you, i suggest trying it out yourself. GL
