SL/R230: Bluetooth pairing default

Bluetooth pairing default
I am new to M-B products. I purchased an 2009 SL 550. It has all the options. I have paired my iPhone 6 with the aboard phone system and it works fine EXCEPT each time I start the car I have to go into the Phone Option-Bluetooth Devices and select my iPhone activating that device for the trip. The Bluetooth selection screen shows "Docked phone" (when in fact there IS no docked phone) and then iPhone. Once I select the iPhone I am good to go but it is a pain to perform that choice each time I get into the car. And yes the Bluetooth feature on the iPhone is ON....
If I could delete the selection "Docked Phone", I think the system would default to the iPhone and I'd solve my problem. But under Options I don't get the choice to delete the Docked Phone.
I know this isn't very clear, but is the System supposed to work by me having to chose my iPhone selection each time I make a trip? All my other cars do a Bluetooth search AUTOMATICALLY and pair the iPhone when I have Bluetooth enabled.
