I think I read a bit of misinformation which suggested that SBC was dropped at some point during the R230 run like was done on the W211's. Is it true that any of the R230's came without SBC? My question would include AMG cars as well.

I have a 04 sl600, and in 08,Dealer cleared SBC fault code displayed by disabling function. Explained the SBC sensor was bad and it was $1300 to replace. I used it 4 times before that and it worked fine, including a major fan belt lockup that stranded me, and they sent out service truck and eventually tow truck.
