Yep it is always good turbo weather in the UK. Santa pod drag strip has set a lot of records.

Hoping to get there on the 28th March for a quick blast on the way to the VMAX200

Just found this. It is called the SLS AMG NIGHT BLACK SHADE. It was a limited edition a while back.

Too Many To List
I have installed a wide body kit before and it is not for the faint of heart. It's a labor of love to get it perfect.

The turbos are out and are being examined to determine what can be done within the stock housing.

Sweeeet! I have the 2008 body style and would be content with a lip spoiler and finding a stupid rear diffuser or something... which I can't. Damn.

Oh also want bluetooth or an aux input.... which I have no idea how to do. Burning CDs feels so 2002. Ugh.

You can get a lip splitter from piecha ( not sure of the spelling ) and look at commandonline for the bluetooth.

Nice build!

I like the build! The red accents aren't for me, but if you like them they work! I do see components of the SLS AMG in your build and it looks nice! My project is expected to be done about May 1. I have an Evoms tune at 690 HP on my SL65 and with the stock 738 Ft/lbs of torque, that is enough for me. I am not going to track this car...too many things to go wrong with these cars and they are too heavy to be practical handlers on a proper track. This will be a lot of fun to drive. I also did remote flapper exhaust from Wheels and More from Germany on my car this last summer(Cat back) and it offers a nice rumble and I think they said it averages 12 HP gains when placed...so I am really at about 700 HP and I am satisfied with this. As it is, this monster can hardly handle what it has and if you take off the traction control, the ditch is easy to find(not that I have yet). I am also not doing any interior upgrades like AMGFan did...he must have over $100G in his car with all the custom carbon fiber and custom fabs he had done. I am really looking forward to the completion of the body kit and we are adjusting the lowering links to get the stance down nicely. Good luck with the completion of your build! Also, as some have said, the installation of a body kit is a labor of love...none of them are even close to perfect and it takes a lot of elbow grease and $$$ to really get it right. Not to mention, a body guy who is a stud! I am amazed at all of the mods he has made to my kit to stiffen the bumpers/fenders/rockers to make this car a driver and not just a show car(so all the pieces stay on solidly and don't fall off at speed). He also saved my stock antennae for my stereo, is reinstalling my stock peripheral proximity sensors, and was able to get my new headlights in and working without having to do a computer reboot(as I was once told we would have to do). Can't wait to see it painted and ready to go!

I have not posted anything for a while and you may have suspected that I had some problems and delays and you would be correct.

I did make it to VMAX200 at the end of March however my tune had not been completed and quickly found out my speed limiter had not been removed. It was still fun but frustrating to go down half the runway on the limiter.

The good news is my wheels didn't fall off and I didn't loose any of the body kit.

The bad news is that my new turbo wheels may be too big. This was told to me by Marcin at Speedriven so I will take his word for it.

Currently my exhaust is being completed and then the car will go back to Eurocharged UK to get some more good stuff done as well as complete some other work that got left behind.

On the list is a SL65 black series KW V3 coilover suspension and sway bars.
Bucket seats and race harness
Intercooler expansion tank
Audio system
New wheels and tyres
Open up front grille for more air
Cutom CAI completion
Then do the tune

I also have purchased a spare set of SL65 turbos which I will be trying out another billet wheel in to see if they will help the tune

I will post again once I get some progress pictures.

I have started a new thread on this but I thought I would look for help here also.

I have purchased a set of SL65 Turbos which I am doing a billet wheel upgrade on, I will get them back in a couple of weeks.

Does anybody know if the 65 Turbos are a direct swap for the 600 Turbos?

I know the compressor wheel is larger but I am not sure if the housing and manifolds will be a direct fit.

Any help would be appreciated so I can preempt any potential issues.

The housings/manifolds are exactly the same on 600/65 as far as I know... I also have a set of 65 turbs, & everything from outward appearance of turbs & the Inner/outer Diameter of manifolds is exactly the same. I believe the only dif is the Comp Wheels being larger.. You already know that

Picture of the inter cooler tank. This is going in the front battery location. The two batteries are now located in the trunk and have been changed to lithiums so now have a combined weight of less than 15lb.

Sounds as a good solution.....

How much cost the batteries and from where have you bought them from... Germany?

I imported them from Voltphreaks. I think they retail for around $2k for the pair however they gave me a much better deal in order to show they could work with the R230.

The thing is with them is that I would estimate the 2 stock batteries combined weigh around 100lb so with these at under 15lb that is a 85lb saving.

I have spent a lot more on light wheels, brakes and on carbon parts for other projects and saved much less weight. So I feel that the price is justified for this kind of weight shedding.

Thank you.

Hey Ekselent, the smaller starter battery can be replaced by the VPR-S40 and the larger Aux battery with the VPH900. These batteries can handle the starting and the loads with no problem however when left without starting the car you will get around half the standby time of the stock AGM battery.

This is not an issue for me as I keep a trickle charger connected when I am not going to use the car for a few days.
