Just picked this up in Cali:
I like this a lot more than I thought that I would. Was looking for a SL55 but they were more than $20K more than this one was. 27,500 miles. People seem to really notice this car much more than my 4 door MBs.

the Launch Edition 2003 SL 500
CONGRATULATIONS--I have one of the initial distributions of the then new limited edition--2003 Launch Edition SL 500s (designo) in USA - from 03/2002. A really beautiful car. I use it as daily driver (Summer and Winter-with snow tires)--local and Interstate --23,000 miles in 22 months. The color and wheels are really very unique--and very attractive. Wherever I go, I receive more specific comments about the beauty of this vehicle's color, overall design, wheels, interior, etc.-------------I never see any on the road or parked because of the limited production of this Launch Edition model.

2003 SL Designo Edition
Just bought the same car(minus the chrome rims) with 4200 miles.
Currently having problems with the top not opening and closing and roof tattles when top is up. Going in the shop this week. Awsome car!!!

I have had problems with roof rattle as well. No luck in finding dealer with knowledge to fix it yet, but I am stuck in central louisiana.
Please post your experience with this fix if successful.
