The star is ugly, in my personal opinion. However, if you REALLY want Distronic, the solid star shouldn't be a major concern. On my CL I didn't need distronic as I rarely use cruise control anyhow so I saved some cash and perferred the look of the non-distronic star.
All in all, it's probably not too big of a deal, I'm just **** retentive.

2006 SL55 with 030 Performance Package
I have distronic on my 2003 SL, it is a great option if you do a lot of highway travel. The system really works great, I am impressed with how good it works, you can follow a car at 75 on the freeway off to a circle exit ramp and it will bring you to a crawl and follow until the car in front comes close to a stop then brakes applied again alarm sounds and your on your own. You do have to drive at some point!
The star being covered is the only drawback, and the price.
It is very easy to use. If you have any questions on the system let me know. The Keyless go is great too!

Yes I have... it looks like a plastic bag got caught in the grill on a S-Class.

Thanks for the pic's but it is still hard to see exactly what it looks like. It appears to look like the "normal" star with a piece of glass or plastic under or over it...perhaps protecting an electronic "part"? Am I correct?? Is the star a "normal metal"one or is it etched on the plastic or what???
