SRS light on
My SRS light is on but the passenger side small yellow lamp on the glove box goes on and off ok with starting. Also no malfunctions show up in the two displays in the dash. The malfunction indicator in the dash reads "no malfunctions" also. Any thoughts on checking this out? I tried cleaning the seat belt buckle connectors, no luck there. Should I try disconnecting and reconnecting the trunk battery? Just lit up out of nowhere, was fine earlier today but it is persistent.

I had a somewhat similar problem with my '07 R230. SRS red light came on ... sometimes it would go off a bit later on its own, sometimes it just stayed on.
Dealership "determined" the problem was with the passenger seat restraint system ... it was allegedly telling the car that the passenger seat was occupied, when it was not. Dealership replaced the seat-occupied sensor in the seat ... and accomplished nothing.
There were other problems: sometimes ... but not always ... the driver seat belt tensioner made a ratcheting sound, like it was trying to take tension. And the windshield wipers wouldn't work if the SRS light was on.
Dealership replaced the Electronic Ignition Module [EIM] ... the unit that the starter key goes into. This cured all the problems, and they remain cured 6 months later. So ... for what it may be worth, if anything at all ... rule out the EIM as the source of your problems. Good luck, Mate.

I have this machine;

It switches off my srs light on my r230, it gives me a code sometimes that voltage is too low in seat pad. This is usually after the seats have been adjusted to extremes ie when cleaning the seats or hoovering the carpets. I just unplug the connectors, plug them back in then reset the codes with my autel machine.

OK folks my SRS light is off via my indie friends $7500 scanner tool, code B1863 (soft set) and reset. It is still off. Problem is pretensioner in the seat belt (B1863 code). Does anyone know how hard it is to replace that part if it returns to trouble me? Anyway everything works fine for now.

This costs nothing: unplug the electrical connector from the seatbottom, give it a minute or so to go stupid, then plug it back together ... just to rule out the simplest solution.

Stupid question: Do you unplug the connector and let it sit with the ignition off and key out... or with the key in position 1... position 2... or with the car running?

SLSMag: no cost for the EIM repair or replacement of the passenger seat SRS circuitry. I bought the car from CarMax and it had a 30-day warranty. As I mentioned earlier, MB first thought the problem was in the passenger seat SRS circuitry, so they replaced the seat circuitry ... I don't know what all was replaced. Hat tip to CarMax.
As for the seat connector unplug/replug processes: I don't know. I'd try it every possible way. Good luck, Mate. Let us know how this is resolved.
